Do you want to get your students excited about reading? In this session 3 Northwest ISD librarians will share how they implemented whole campus reading programs at the elementary and middle school levels. Participants will leave with ideas on how to get students excited about reading and ideas for creating a culture of readers on their campus.

Want to play with words? Discover ways poems can powerfully challenge your gifted students to not only love writing, but to become better, more intentional writers. You can use poetry to reinforce your writing lessons, help students become reflective in content areas, promote fun and engagement, and allow for creative self-expression. You'll leave with many poetry lesson ideas and get to try some, too!

In this session, teachers will learn how to make letter learning stick for their students both in whole group and small group instruction. Teachers will see instructional ideas modeled and leave with new ideas to try with their students this year to support reading and writing!

In this session, we will discuss ways to utilize games and how to determine best approaches to provide engaging and interactive practice for students.

Three special education teachers and three general education teachers will give a presentation that includes resources and suggestions for how to modify work for students who receive modified curriculum based on their methods and resources. The presentation will cover the collaborative efforts necessary to modify work and examples of how to modify grade-level math and ELA work to a modified student's level. There will also be an activity where general education teacher attendees and special education teacher attendees will partner and modify work for a sample student. We will provide a sample student packet with all state and district testing data, iReady summary, and IEP to use to guide them through the activity. They will then practice modifying a grade-level assignment and create an anchor chart where they will add resources they would use and how they would modify the assignment to share with the group. We will wrap up the presentation with a question/answer session.

MAP Growth is a universal screener that measures what 2nd-5th know and what they’re ready to learn next through targeted skills and TEKS. In this session, you will learn how to pull reports from MAP and set goals.
Report: Student Profile and Goal setting

Learn how to celebrate student strengths, deliver targeted instruction, model with purpose, and foster independence—all while keeping small groups efficient and impactful. Walk away with practical strategies to spark creativity, boost confidence, and help every writer grow!

Taking anecdotal notes and administering running records should be an essential part of the data collection process for struggling students. In this session, participants will learn how to give a running record and collect anecdotal notes (in real time) that can be used immediately to inform small group instruction.

Teachers know that students learn best when group sizes are smaller! With class sizes increasing, small groups are a wonderful way to structure your classes and see increased engagement and comprehension! Come to this session to learn:

• How to create a routine for small groups
• Structuring small group mini-lessons
• How to engage students NOT in a small group
